Does history exist in the present?

As the progression through this project continues it becomes more apparent how manipulative the leaders of Italy, Germany, and Japan actually were. Specifically in the literature would you can see a common use of extreme nationalism. You can’t really blame the citizens of these countries for believing their leaders. A lot of what they say would have been believable at that time and the leaders gave their people hope and pride. I see there is hardly a difference between the common man of Germany during that time and the common American man. What makes us having such a belief in Barrack Obama that he could fix our economy different from how Hitler promised he would for a economically disastrous Germany?
